Ondřej Císař and Linda Coufal (WP6) realized their citizen panels in Prague and Most, two very different Czech cities, to explore the mechanisms that shape attitudes of citizens towards climate justice activism. The question they shared with participants was:
What do people think about activism and its different forms?
They used three fictional scenarios of collective action, including visual materials, to investigate the ways people use to construct their views, attitudes, and visions of activism and its impact. Participants were engaged in an interactive exercise to reach a consensus on what ideal/effective activism should look like.
The selected deliberative method of research was successful not only in creating unique data, but also in providing the participants with the opportunity to revise their original views and opinions. As a result, the deliberative panels successfully played the role of an action research tool, which is not only able to create data for researchers but also helps participants to get involved in innovative social practices and actively reflect on their attitudes and deeply held beliefs.
